Do you want to study to become a nurse? Region Dalarna offers places in a commissioned education program with a study salary starting from the autumn semester of 2026. This offer is aimed at those who are currently employed as permanent nursing assistants, caregivers, or child caregivers in Region Dalarna and who are not already studying in a nursing program.

The regional council has decided to offer five places each semester with a study salary for nursing studies. The education is a commissioned program where the region covers your studies. These five places are in addition to the places offered by Dalarna University in the program and can only be applied for through Region Dalarna. The education is provided at Dalarna University’s regular nursing program full-time over six semesters.

The study salary level is 18,000 SEK/month and is paid during the semester periods. Between semesters, you will work in your regular position, where you have your permanent employment. The study salary is vacation-qualifying.

Workplace during and after studies

The starting point is that you remain at your current workplace during and after your studies, unless otherwise agreed. We expect you to continue working within Region Dalarna after your education. If for any reason you need to interrupt your studies or your position with us, no repayment of the paid study salary is required. However, if you choose to leave Region Dalarna during your studies, you will lose your place in the commissioned education program.

Before the spring round, you need to meet the following requirements:

• A continuous permanent employment as a nursing assistant, child caregiver, or caregiver in Region Dalarna for at least 12 months (the requirement must be met by 26-04-01)
• Total continuous employment as a monthly salaried employee in Region Dalarna of at least three years, of which at least one year must be permanent employment as mentioned above.
• The university's formal qualification requirements: Basic eligibility and mathematics 2a or 2b or 2c, Natural Science 2, Social Science 1b or 1a1+1a2.

• a copy of grades that prove that the prerequisites are met. The grades must be issued by a high school, adult education (Komvux), or another authorized issuer of grades. Course and subject grades must be complete and finalized. Only semester grades are not accepted.
• recommendation letter according to the template on INBLICK and a certificate of service from your current manager
• personal letter and CV. Your personal letter should be based on the template found on INBLICK
